Here's what will change soon in and around your home:

We connect your home to an electric heat pump that utilizes heat from the sewer. We make several improvements in and around your home:

• We install HR++ windows;
• We seal all gaps around your windows;
• You switch to electric cooking if you haven't already (house numbers 65-213);
• We upgrade your roof insulation and install solar panels on the roof (house numbers 65-213).

If you currently cook with gas, you will receive a free electric cooktop and cookware.

Rent remains unchanged

Important to know: your rent will not be affected by the sustainability measures and insulation.

* Your gas price will increase from January 1st 2024, due to national price hikes. Ufortunately, Lieven de Key has no influence on this. If you vote in favor and connect to the heat pump, your energy costs will decrease once your home is connected to the heat pump.

Little changes in daily use

With this sustainable heat extraction, you save energy. In daily use, you won't notice any difference. You still get hot water from your tap and heating as you're used to.

How does sewage heat extraction work?

With sewage heat extraction, heat is extracted from the sewage system. The heat goes to heat pumps that heat all homes. The residential buildings are better insulated, for example, by installing roof insulation.

Who are the partners?

Waternet aims to explore and implement the possibilities of thermal energy from water for the transition to a sustainable energy supply. In doing so, Waternet is investigating an active role in the heat supply in Amsterdam, including the development of aquathermy projects.

Firan is a 100% subsidiary of the network company Alliander NV. Alliander NV has committed itself to actively contributing to the energy transition. Firan's goal is to develop and manage sustainable energy infrastructures, including heat transport and distribution.

The City of Amsterdam is also a crucial partner in this project. The municipality enables this sustainable initiative by subsidizing feasibility studies at an early stage and providing a grant from the Climate Fund for the actual implementation.
