<h2>Why does Lieven de Key increase the rent?</h2>

<p>Lieven de Key wants to provide good and affordable homes for residents. We need the rental income to maintain and improve homes and to build new ones.
In the coming years, we will invest extra staff and resources in making our homes more energy-efficient. Lieven de Key aims to improve all homes with energy labels E, F or G by 2028. By making homes more energy-efficient, we help keep housing costs affordable.
This is becoming more difficult because maintenance costs increase every year. The rent increase helps us to continue maintaining and improving all homes. Check <a href="http://www.lievendekey.nl/onderhoud">www.lievendekey.nl/onderhoud</a> for more information (in Dutch).</p>

<h2 class="seperated">Does the new rent affect my housing allowance?</h2>

<p>Yes, it can. We will pass your new rent on to the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. <h2 class="seperated">I do not agree with my rent increase. How can I object?</h2>

<p>View all conditions for each type of home at <a client-url="object-to-rent-increase" data-last-type="page" href="object-to-rent-increase" ng-link="" target="" tokenbased="false">lievendekey.nl/object-to-rent-increase</a>. You can also submit your objection here using an online form.</p>

<h2 class="seperated">I&#39;m having trouble paying the rent. What should I do?</h2>

<p>Please contact Lieven de Key as soon as possible. Together, we will look at whether a suitable solution or arrangement is possible. You may also be eligible for different types of support. Read more at <a href="https://lievendekey.nl/rent-payment">lievendekey.nl/rent-payment</a>.</p>

<h2 class="seperated">My rent increase depends on my income, but my income has decreased. What can I do?</h2>

<p>You can ask us to reverse the rent increase. This is only possible for the last three rent increases. <h2 class="seperated">My house is being demolished or renovated. Will I still get a rent increase?</h2>

<p>You will no longer receive a rent increase once the official date for demolition or renovation has been set by the municipality.</p>

<h2 class="seperated">How do I calculate my maximum rent?</h2>

<p>Lieven de Key makes sure your rent does not go above the maximum allowed rent. The maximum rent depends on different features of your home. It is calculated using the government’s points system. The number of points can change every year, even if your home stays the same. This can be due to changes in the property value (WOZ value) or the energy label. If you live in a historic building or a new-build home, your maximum rent may be higher than usual. This is because of an extra charge. <h2 class="seperated">How do you get my income details?</h2>

<p>Lieven de Key receives a household statement for 2024 from the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. This shows whether you fall into the low, middle or high income category. The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration does not share how many people are in your household or your exact income. It only tells us which category you are in. Each year, the Dutch government sets the maximum rent increase. You can read more about this on the government website.
