Damages to personal possessions
Possessions or furnishings can get accidentally damaged caused by a fire, maintenance, leakages or a simple accident. A proper home contents insurance or policy can be extremely important to make sure damages are covered. Always make some clear pictures of the damages and do not throw away damaged possessions. Take care to keep original receipts or proof of purchase. The value of your damaged possessions is calculated using the receipts. Your insurance company will often pay the original value of your belongings, depending on when you bought it.
If your insurance company decides not to handle your claim, you can submit a claim with Lieven de Key. Always ask your own insurance company for a written statement of the denied claim. Without this statement Lieven de Key will not be able to handle your claim.
How to submit a claim for damages
When a claim is submitted, we first decide whether to handle the claim or not. Therefore, next to the written statement of the denied claim, we need details and information about the damaged possessions and furnishings. This includes a clear description of the damages, the pictures you have made, the purchase receipts and, if injuries have occured, a discription of these. If Lieven de Key decides to pay for damages, we will pay the current value of the possessions. This amount will be less than the original value your insurance company might pay.
