Do not allow rent arrears to build up - this will save you a lot of problems. We can try to find a solution together. If necessary, we can refer you to a debt relief organization.
If you do not pay on time, Lieven de Key will first send you a reminder. If you still do not pay, you will be sent a second reminder and the administrator for your complex will come to visit you. If payment is still not forthcoming, then we will call in the bailiffs. This is to prevent the debt from mounting up any further. As a final step, we will apply to the courts for an eviction order. This does not mean that you will no longer have to pay us, but it does mean that you lose the right to live in your home.
Rescheduling your payments
In some cases, it is possible to repay the rent that you owe in instalments. You can check your payment history online. When you are behind with the rent you can check if it is possible to make a payment agreement. Had a payment agreement earlier? There must be one year between the last agreement and the new one.
When you are behind with less than 50 euro you can make an arrangement to pay the ammount in full within three days.

To avoid eviction, we always refer tenants who have rent arrears to a debt relief organization first. They will contact you and can help you to get your finances in order. You can also go to a debt relief organization to ask for help.
The ultimate sanction: eviction
If your payments have not been rescheduled and the bailiff has also visited you but we have not received any further payments, we will terminate your lease through the courts. We will also apply for permission to evict you from the property. Rent arrears and the costs associated with the bailiff will still have to be paid. After an eviction due to rent arrears, you will forfeit the right to housing from Lieven de Key and any other housing associations.
